Nestled in the pristine wilderness of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Mount Bohemia is a hidden gem for adventurous skiers and snowboarders. Renowned for its extreme terrain and abundant snowfall, this unique resort offers an unparalleled experience for thrill-seekers and outdoor enthusiasts. It's also where Joe works as a ski patroller during our long, Wisconsin winters.

Mount Bohemia boasts over 900 acres of skiable terrain, featuring some of the most challenging runs in the Midwest. With a vertical drop of 900 feet, the resort is home to steep chutes, deep glades, and breathtaking backcountry trails. The natural, ungroomed snow provides a true test of skill, making it a haven for advanced skiers and snowboarders.

To say that I was scared to ski at Mt. Boho is an understatement! But I knew having Billy as my guide would make my experience truly memorable. The way he spoke of this place, I knew it was something special, especially since Billy had lived out West for a decade. Snowboarding is his greatest love, except for his children and me, of course :)

The resort receives an average of 273 inches of snow annually, thanks to the lake-effect snow from nearby Lake Superior. This ensures a long ski season and consistently excellent conditions, allowing visitors to enjoy powder-filled adventures from December through April. And the views are spectacular! Unfortunately, the winter of 2023-2204 produced a dismal amount of what's typically dropped from the sky, so not all of the runs and ski areas were open. This did not deter us, I wasn't ready for the more difficult terrain.

It's always expanding every season, and the owner always gives people a say in what they'd like to see. To be honest, it may have been what I was most looking forward to after an adventurous day trailing Billy!

The hot tub is sometimes jokingly referred to as, "dude stew" because the hill tends to attract more men than women. Since everyone is jonesin' to sit and soak after a hectic day on the slopes, we knew we'd be taking advantage. We got a little naughty in the hot tub, but not so much that anyone kicked us out or reported us!
